What Does Your
Home Say
About You?

by Darla Martin

Most of us don’t realize that when we invite others to our homes, our personality, taste, spirit, and imagination are on display.

Example:  If a guy has an untidy place, it’s likely that if he doesn’t care about his own environment, he won’t care about you.  On the other hand, if a woman is a neat freak, who believes in absolute order in her home, she’s more than likely a control freak.

Studies reveal the following…

  • No plants in the home usually indicate a person does not have a nurturing spirit.
  • Those with an ebullient personality usually reside in homes of bright colors, and lots of glass.
  • A lot of wood furniture in the home is usually reflective of a personality that’s conservative, very traditional, and less prone to seek out adventure.
  • Many people who are highly stressed have sofas they never sit on, because their main home activity fluctuates between the bedroom and the kitchen.

These same homes seldom have furniture designated for relaxation, ie, recliners, chaise lounges, or thick cushy chairs with ottomans.

  • People who like antiques are prone to be eclectic, warm, friendly, and very hospitable.
  • Those who have dark colors throughout the home usually lack social flair and are reclusive.
  • Those into contemporary or modern furnishings are usually creative, talented, and outgoing.
  • A woman’s bedroom says a lot about her femininity, as it relates to colors and accessories such as pillow shams, bed skirts, tablecloths, sheets, and bed coverings.
  • Where a man’s bedroom usually reflects his masculinity in dark bold color combinations of a unique design.

Where do you land in these examples?
