Q. My boyfriend is very outgoing and flirts with all my girlfriends in my presence. I resent it and I’ve told him so.  I think his behavior is immature and disrespectful, but he disagrees.  He says he’s just being friendly.  When I complain about it, he gets angry and calls me jealous and insecure.  He claims he’s only joking, and the women know it.  But I always feel demeaned when it happens.  What would you do?

A. Lose his number and suggest he lose yours.  You feel disrespected because he is being disrespectful.  I think you deserve better.  The important question is…what do you think?

Q. I just found out accidentally that my boyfriend is seeing someone else. A co-worker recently brought some pictures to work from a family reunion, and my boyfriend was on one of the photos with another woman.  When I asked my co-worker about him, he was identified as her cousin’s boyfriend.  I was stunned, but I kept my cool.  She went on to tell me that they had been dating for over a year, and the girl was pregnant.  I got so sick, I had to leave work.  The problem I have is how to approach him about it.  We have been together for almost two years, and I never suspected he was seeing someone else.  He is prone to lie, and I know that’s what he’s going to do.  I’m so angry, and I don’t know what to do.  What would you do?

A. Well, you should first figure out what it is you want.  Do you want him to dispute what you believe to be true?  Do you wish to stay in the relationship, in spite of what you’ve learned?  Do you want him to know you’re angry?  If I were in a similar scenario, I would opt out of this “drama” without a word, and let him wonder what happened to me.  Of course, your actions should be predicated on how you feel about deceit and betrayal and what you’re willing to accept..
