Bold Summer Fashion

The Do’s & Don’ts

by Rachelle Shropshire

Your Fashion Statement…

When was the last time you opened your closet wondering what to wear?  Sometimes a closet can be quite confusing because it may have a little of everything in it: such as clothes from the past that allows you to revisit yourself.  It will also most likely have the latest fashion trends, which allow you to create or reinvent your own personal style.

However, there are few occasions that allow you to dress more completely for yourself than any other time; such as a vacation (depending on where you’re going) a place where no one knows who you are, and yet you can wear the clothes you want to wear and freely be yourself.  There is also that special party where you can let your hair down, and wear something you never dreamed of.   You are what you wear, but that can turn out to be as complex as you are.

Here Are Some Do’s & Don’t’s For Summer Wear…The Do’s

  • Wear all the white you can. White is a striking color that everyone looks good in.  All-white attire makes you stand out in the crowd.
  • Have at least one orange outfit that you look ravishing in. If you can’t find one, have one custom-made.  Orange is an exciting color for any woman.
  • Black & white is a great combo. Especially with black being on top. Remember, black is always slimming.
  • Give the gold & silver a break. Wear colorful earrings.  Wear sandals with your toes shining with beautiful summer colors.
  • Wear jeans with fitted tank tops and bodysuits only. Buy a snazzy belt.  Work on that waistline.
  • Shave the hair on your legs.
  • Try wearing a bright color that you’ve never worn before, like red or fuchsia, and see what it does for your spirits, and your self-esteem.
  • Uncover those arms. Buy at least four sundresses and wear them!!!  There is nothing more feminine.  Look for something different.
  • Don’t be a clone of everyone else. Give the athletic shoes a break.  Wear high heels every chance you get, especially with shorts, and Capri pants.
  • Again, if you have nice legs, show them off with shorts, Capri pants, and short skirts. Put the long pants away until Fall.

The Don’t’s

  • Do not mix crazy colors together and ascend on the public. Watch your color coordination.
  • Don’t wear oversized tee shirts unless you’re working in the yard.
  • Do not wear sandals that make your feet look like you’re preparing for battle. Ask yourself when buying a pair, do these sandals look comfortable, or cute and feminine?
  • Do not wear sandals without your toes having a pedicure and polish. It’s important that your feet look cared for.
  • Never go outside your home with chipped nail polish. If you don’t have time to do your nails, take your polish off, and make sure your nails are clean.  Debris under your fingernails can make a statement you don’t want to make.
  • Do not wear heavy cologne or perfume. Find something soft, light, and distinctive for the summer.
