You And Your

“Finer Points”

 by Gloria Gibson

Here’s an opportunity to do a self-analysis of your physical appearance for the new year.  Studies show that your overall level of confidence and good feelings are deeply influenced by your opinion regarding your looks.  Think about how good you feel when you’re dressed up and feeling pleased or comfortable with your body.  You should feel fit, fine, and fabulous regardless of your size.

Take this quick quiz to determine where you are in your mental assessment of your physical presence, and what you need to do if anything. Circle what fits you, and then rate your finer points overall on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

Your Hair
It’s stylish, very becoming and you’re very satisfied with it or…You don’t know what to do with it, and you’re frustrated.

Your Body
You’re not really satisfied. – You feel good about your body and you look good in your clothes. – You’re overweight and you lack the discipline and the motivation to get your body in shape.

Your Hands
They are attractive and well-kept. – Your hands need a lot of work. – They are not soft to the touch.

Your Skin
Your skin is in good shape. – You give your skin minimal care. – Your skin is dry and flaky.

Your Teeth
They are white and in good condition. – They are not white and are not in the best condition. –  They are in poor condition.

Your Clothes
You are stylish and fashion-conscious. – You feel good about the way you dress. – You are not into clothes, but you’re satisfied. – You don’t know how to get the best look in your clothes.

How do others respond to how you look?
You get compliments often. – You don’t care. – You seldom receive compliments. – You do not turn heads. – You do turn heads.

6 Points To Consider

  1. If you don’t feel good about your body and the way you look in your clothes, then adopting a new personal discipline in your life is an essential goal. Self-discipline can be challenging and fun which guarantees good results.  A healthy diet, appropriate exercise, and body-shaping videos can take your self-esteem to new heights.  Start tomorrow!

  2. Good-looking hands, soft, smooth, and manicured, are an intricate part of one’s sex appeal. Pretty hands are right up there with “nice legs” and “great muscles.”  But a woman’s hands must be soft to the touch.  Otherwise, pretty nails are irrelevant.

  3. Since your skin is the largest organ of your body, it pays to baby it. The better you are at it, the better it’ll represent you for years to come.  Shower gels, body oils, pumice stones, skin brushing, moisturizers, and petroleum jelly help you discover what smooth and silky skin is.  Always apply oil or moisturizer while the skin is still damp from the shower.

  4. Your teeth are the first and foremost representative of your whole physical self. The condition of your teeth makes a total statement about the rest of you.  They should be white and in good condition.  Tooth discoloration and/or teeth that need repair can trash the most exquisite outfit or the most handsome face.  Make an appointment with your dentist today if your smile is not flattering.

  5. When you feel good about the way you dress, you can be stylish, a fad follower, or an eccentric dresser. The important thing is that you feel good about your fashion presentation, whatever it is.  However, if you feel self-conscious about what you wear, start buying what you admire from others (style-wise).  If you feel you can’t wear it, then change your body and mind to fit your desires.  Remember, you can wear anything you want if you feel good about it.  Seek out an image consultant at a department store, if you’re not confident about your choices.

  6. If you seldom receive compliments and haven’t turned any heads in a while, (and it’s an ardent desire) then you need to re-work, revise, or re-invent your look. It is never too late, and there’s a lot of fun to be experienced in the process.  Start today by reviewing your hairstyle, your body carriage, your attire, and the condition of your body.  Remember, feeling good about yourself has a lot to do with your interpretation of how you look, and how others see you.

So…How do your “finer points” rate on a scale of 1-10?
