I have reason to believe that my fiance is still in love with an ex-girlfriend who jilted him, and I’m having second thoughts about marrying him.

Q.  I am engaged to a wonderful guy, but I’m having second thoughts about marrying him, because I feel overshadowed by his ex-girlfriend. For one thing, he is always comparing me to her, by what I wear, how I talk, and how I act.  On more than one occasion, he has called me by her name.  Deep down in my gut, I believe he still loves his ex.    However, I overheard his sister say that she left him for another guy, and I think his ego is still shattered.  What would you do in my shoes?

A.  I wouldn’t marry him, or any man that I believed in my gut loved another woman.  I think you should follow your intuition and move out of the relationship.  Also, you need to consider deeply if you want to take the chance on being compared to another woman for the rest of your life.  I would guess probably not..

Q.  I want to know what would you do in a case like this.  I went to a big party last week and I accidentally ran into an unexpected scene.  I say my best friend’s younger sister out with her fiancé.  My best friend is a stewardess, so she was out of town, and they were all hugged up like lovers.  She didn’t see me, but I want to tell my friend what I saw, though I don’t want to hurt her.  Ironically, she had just confessed to me a few weeks ago that her fiancé was starting to act a little distant.  Should or  shouldn’t I?

A.  I would let it play out to see if he backs out of the relationship voluntarily.  I would not want to be the one to come between two sisters.  However, if I saw her about to walk the aisle with him, I would tell her then, because I would then feel that I was allowing her to walk into a dangerous situation without warning.
