For Lovers – Part 2
MUSTIQUE-GRENADINE ISLANDS
Mustique lies 18 miles south of St. Vincent in a collection of unspoiled islands in the Eastern Caribbean. Mustique encompasses only 1,400 acres, measuring 1.5 miles wide by 3 miles long of rolling hills and lush terrain with stretches of deserted white sand beaches surrounded by protected reefs and clear aquamarine seas.
The exclusive island of Mustique is at the northern tip of The Grenadines bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. It is part of the Lesser Antilles that are, in turn, part of the Windward Islands of the Caribbean. Mustique is reached by air from North America and Europe through Barbados, St. Vincent, Grenada, Martinique, St. Lucia, Puerto Rico or Trinidad.

Where To Stay…The Cotton House – The Cotton House, owned by The Mustique Company and the only luxury boutique hotel on the island, was originally an 18th century cotton ware-house and sugar mill. It was the late British theatrical designer, Oliver Messel, who carefully restored many of its original features in the 1960’s. The Cotton House has nineteen rooms and suites and was completely refurbished and renovated in 2005. Located directly on the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, the Cotton House is recognized as one of the most exclusive and romantic inns of the Caribbean and is a member of the prestigious Leading Small Hotels of the World. The Firefly Guest House – One of the island’s many villas is now an intimate guest house and villa overlooking Britannia Bay and features four bedrooms and a two-tiered pool with waterfalls. Full restaurant and welcoming bar. Activities: Mustique has a wide range of recreational activities to enjoy and many heavenly beaches where one can totally relax, sunbathe and picnic. Nature walking and equestrian trails are in abundance and great ways to experience the island at your leisure.
Mustique Island has long been a favorite for honeymoon couples as it provides both an intimate villa experience as well as a romantic island lifestyle. Couples stay in luxury villas that afford both privacy and relaxation, with every need attended to by a dedicated staff. Currently there are eight two-bedroom villas which are quite popular for honeymoons, each with a staff of three to prepare and serve meals, handle housekeeping chores as well as laundry and gardening. The majority of these villas have a swimming pool and the tariff includes the complimentary use of a vehicle. Candlelight dinners, walks on the beach, spa treatments and sporting activities such as tennis, day sails and diving add to the enjoyment of an intimate, peaceful and lovely honeymoon or romantic island holiday.
How To Get There – Mustique’s isolation makes it a destination that is not accessible by direct flight on a major airline. Travelers from the United States will generally have to make a connection in Barbados or San Juan, Puerto Rico via American Airlines.
