Love Is Never

A Failure

We have been taught our whole lives to avoid failure. Never accept defeat. This mentality is often helpful and constructive as it pushes us to persevere and do our best work. Unfortunately, inability to accept failure can also promote closed mindedness to potentially wonderful relationships.

Has there ever been a guy who you immediately dismissed because he just wasn’t your type? Don’t lie, we’ve all done it. You don’t even notice that he checks most of the boxes for what you constitute as your dream man because you’ve so readily decided that you would never be happy together. Some people never come to the conclusion that maybe the guy they have been looking for has been under their nose this whole time. Rather, they continue wasting their time and energy on guys who appear to be their type, but does not treat them right or with whom they simply do not ‘click.’

It is crucial that women open their eyes and pick up on the fact that if none of their prior relationships are working, it might be time to try something new with someone whose advances they would normally disregard. After all, although someone might seem like an unconventional partner, they just might surprise you. Getting to know someone on a deeper level can cause you to have feelings for them that you never expected or even thought possible.

You might think pursuing a guy who doesn’t fulfill your typical requirements might be constituted as settling, but this is not the case. It is simply trying something new. Maybe it works and maybe it doesn’t, but you will never know if you don’t try. If you choose to finally let your guard down and welcome the advances of the guy who has been crushing on you for years, you haven’t lowered your standards nor are you acting out of desperation. It is clear that you are opening yourself up to what might be something great; and if it isn’t, at least you can say that you gave it a full hearty try.. Sometimes you are just too stuck in your ways to realize that the least expected option might be the best for you. If he makes you feel special and adored, you have won.

So,  if you’re tired of the sporty guy’s guy, try being with the charming dork. If you’re tired of the quiet and reserved book worm, shoot a text to the life of the party. You just might end up happily in love, and that can never be considered a failure.
