The Dating Chronicles
The First Time
Cathy met Tony at a weekend business conference in another city, and the attraction was like lightning. They were both surprised to learn they were from the same city and knew some of the same people. She was immediately impressed because he fit her criteria of being smart, accomplished, and good-looking. He seemed as equally enchanted with her beauty and they ended up spending the whole weekend together.
She was excited about the possibility of romance when she returned home and trembled in anticipation of seeing him again.
Within a week, Tony called and invited her to his home for a small party with friends, and she leaped at the chance to “rekindle the magic.”
She was ecstatic when she arrived at his lavish home and knocked on the massive door. But no one answered. She knocked again, but louder. Still, no one answered. As she turned to leave, Tony suddenly opened the door with an irritated expression on his face. “You got a big knock for a little woman and little patience.”
She laughed at what she thought was his sense of humor and headed back toward the door. She could hear the music inside and couldn’t wait to enter.
He grabbed her hand, “By the way, you look great, but I don’t like women in pants. I’ve got something you can change into.”
Cathy stopped and stared at him to gauge the seriousness of his statement.
“Are you serious?” she asked, with a frown on her face.
“I am,” he replied, looking her dead in the eyes. “Pants are for men.”
Cathy looked at him and chuckled. “You’re right, they are. In fact, I have a change of clothes in the car. I’ll be back in a minute.” He released her hand with a smile.
She walked briskly to her car and drove off without looking back. She knew a kook when she saw one. She was proud of herself. This was the first time she’d run at the sign of trouble with a man.
