The Dating Chronicles

The Introduction

Tracy had gone to Karen’s party out of boredom and the lack of something else to do.  She didn’t view Karen as an equal because of her lack of style and education status. However, Tracy was impressed with the crowd, though she didn’t understand how lackluster Karen could attract such a group to her home.  The men were of high-end quality, and the women fit the same mold.  Tracy, who hadn’t had a date in a while, had gone there hoping to meet a man, and he couldn’t just be any man, because she was very selective.  It had to be someone special and unique.

Though the party was being held on an outdoor patio, Tracy sat near the door, so she could have the first pick if the right one walked in.  She also ignored all gestures of interest from those guys who didn’t interest her.  She didn’t wish to waste time on someone who didn’t qualify.

When a tall rugged type walked in, Tracy’s heart skipped a beat.  He was just her style as he ambled through the door with wide shoulders and deep-set eyes.  His clothes were casual, yet expensive, and his smile was sparkling.  She watched as he circled the party giving polite nods of recognition to those he knew.  She allowed him to pass by her twice without attempting to get his attention because she wanted to make an impactful impression.  When she saw him stop and talk to a woman whom she deemed very unattractive, she stood and flung her lustrous hair in preparation for him to notice her.

She decided to tap him on the shoulder and pretend to be seeking directions to the ladies’ room.  This ploy usually worked whenever she wanted to get a man’s attention at a party.  And just as she expected, when she approached him, he smiled at her, said goodbye to the other woman, and turned to point the way to the closest bathroom.  As she put on her charming smile, she stared long and hard into his eyes and asked if they’d met before.  But before he could answer, Karen walked up, put her arm through his, and asked Tracy if she’d been properly introduced to her fiancé.
