The Numbers Exchange

Inside The Waiting Game

BS Staff

Carmen:  “I learned some time ago to stop giving out my number to guys I meet at a party because I can’t stand the anticipation.  The last experience had almost given me a nervous breakdown.  I met this great guy at a party, and we ended up leaving the party and walking on a nearby beach until 5:00 in the morning.  I gave him all my numbers and he never called.  What’s up with these guys?  It’s like that they give you all this sweet talk, and then get home and change their minds.”

Jocelyn:  “Here’s a flash bulletin for men.  When you meet a woman and she gives you her number, she expects to hear from you the next day or shortly thereafter.  The next day says you were really impressed.  Two days later says you’re still impressed, but maybe you’re busy.  Three or four days later means you’re not as impressed as she hoped you’d be, but you’re interested.  A week later means you’re momentarily bored, and you suddenly remember her. Therefore, don’t ask for the number, if you’re really not interested.”

Mauri:  “When I’m in a social situation, I never give my number to a brother, especially if he’s someone I’m hoping will call.  I can’t stand the agony of the wait, because he never calls by the time I think he should call…and that’s the next day.  Now, I’m the one who takes the number of an interested party and utters the words, “I’ll call you?”  I think men find this sexy and I always wait at least a week, so he’ll be especially glad to hear from me!”
