Sheryl was leaving the theater one night with friends when she spotted her boyfriend Chris coming out of the same theater holding hands with another woman. She was devastated and wished she could just turn and run, but she couldn’t. She had spoken to Chris earlier hat evening, and he claimed to be sick in bed with the flu.
She approached Chris from behind, and tapped him on the shoulder. Chris spun around, looked into Sheryl’s face and let out a deep sigh.
“Well baby, you caught me. You know I ain’t good at lying. What can I say? This is my lady now, and I just didn’t know how to tell you. But I won’t forget you. You were good to me. You’ll find someone else who can return your feelings.”
Sheryl took a deep breath as she stared silently into Chris’ eyes. She noticed that he was still holding the other woman’s hand. For a split second, she recalled all the times Chris had told her he loved her. Anger overtook her as she pulled out a knife that she carried for protection, and stabbed him.
He fell, clutching his stomach, and as he lay screaming on the ground, she bent over him, snatched the diamond ring she’d bought him off his finger, and whispered in his ear. “I know you won’t forget me now.”
She was arrested the next day, but Chris refused to press charges from his hospital bed.
