Tammy was happy and glowing as she stood waiting in the lobby of Bill’s office building for him to walk up.  He was taking her out to dinner and as she stood there, she pinched herself in excitement over the relationship.  They had been together four months and all her friends were pulling for her, hoping that this relationship would progress to the point where she’d finally get her wish to become a bride.

Thus far, Bill had treated her like she was a fragile piece of glass he treasured and she was ecstatically happy every time she was in his presence.  Therefore, on this particular day, when he called and said he wanted to take her to dinner because he had something important to tell her, she was so excited she couldn’t eat.  She just knew that he was getting ready to pop the question and her life was about to change.

But when he walked up, he had a strained look on his face, and her heart fell to her knees.  He told her that they weren’t going to be able to go to dinner because he had to work late.  Without looking at her, he also informed her that though he was very fond of her and she was indeed a spark in his life, he had decided to marry a woman from his past, who he realized he still loved very much. 

Without saying a word, Tammy turned and walked away silently.  She was devastated and had never felt so betrayed.  That night, she vowed revenge.

The next day, she called the phone company and the light company pretending to be his wife and had his services cut off under the pretense that “they were relocating to another city.”  She also had his mail re-routed to an abandoned building. She saw herself breaking out the windshield on his new Benz, but she changed her mind.  She decided that causing him distress was more in line with her plan to get even.
