It was 6:00 o’clock on a Friday night and Val had just gotten off from work.  She decided to stop by the supermarket to pick up a few items for dinner.  When she entered the store, she heard live jazz music and saw a large crowd gathered around a group of musicians near the fruit stand.  She was delighted because it offered a great distraction from another lonely evening.

As she stood listening to the music, a hand touched her shoulder from behind and she was startled when she turned and saw the same gorgeous man she had been in a meeting with five hours earlier.  The meeting flashed through her mind.

She and her boss had met with three prospective clients for lunch, and he had been one of them.  He had been so striking when she first saw him that she had almost flubbed her presentation. She had also imagined during the meeting that he had winked at her.  But when the meeting ended, she figured it was her imagination because he didn’t even look in her direction when he headed toward the door.

Now he stood behind her with a wide grin on his face, and her heart leaped wildly, as he strained to be heard over the loud music. 

“Hi!  Nice to see you again and so soon!”

“Nice to see you as well!” she replied. with her best smile.

 “If you’ve got a moment, how about joining me for a juice cocktail over at the salad bar, I have some questions about your presentation earlier?”  

“Sure,” she replied.  “I’d love to.” 

Three hours later, after a whirlwind conversation, she found herself sitting on his boat in the middle of a lake with him reading poetry to her.  Three weeks later, after seeing each other every day since they met, they flew to Las Vegas to get married.
