Met Their Match

Believe it or not, there are a lot of interesting men out there looking to make a real match.  You’ve just got to be in the right place at the right time.  And you never know where that may be.

Gabrielle – “I was running late for a flight through the airport like a wild woman, when I skidded into this man and almost knocked him down with my stewardess cart.  Though rushed, I still noticed how fine he was, but I didn’t have time to flirt.  I apologized profusely, but kept flying.  Ten minutes later, I almost died when I saw him boarding the same flight.  He smiled when he passed me, but didn’t say a word.  However, after we were in the air, he came in the back and sat in the empty seat next to me.  We talked the whole flight.  He was a cardiologist with a great sense of humor, on his way to a medical convention.  For me, it was love at first sight.  For him, it took a little longer.”

Kim – “ I met him when we got stuck on the elevator together in my apartment building.  I’d noticed him before, but it had always been on an elevator filled with people during the early morning “rush hour.”  When I got on the elevator late one night and saw him, my heart pumped with excitement.  Ironically, we were the only ones on the elevator.  However, neither of us said a word as we rode up in silence. Then the elevator suddenly stopped between floors and the doors wouldn’t open.  Ordinarily, I would have panicked, but when I looked over at him, I felt safe and lucky.  When we were rescued two hours later, we were sitting on the floor drinking champagne that he had bought to celebrate a promotion.  We got engaged last year.”

Susan – “I tripped over his briefcase on the train going home and fell and broke my leg.  He’s been taking care of me ever since.”

Rachel – “I was in the local drugstore one Saturday morning studying the cough medicine on the shelf when this gorgeous guy walked up and started making various suggestions about the best one to buy.  After taking his advice, I went my way and later at the checkout counter, I saw him in line.  When I got to the cash register, I discovered I had no money in my wallet.  He immediately spoke up from behind and offered to pay my bill.  We walked to our cars together and he asked for my number in exchange for taking care of my bill.  We went out for pizza that same night and we have been inseparable since.”

Mari – “I met him coming back from a friend’s wedding in D.C.  I was sitting on the plane feeling sorry for myself before takeoff, because my last closest friend had gotten married.  I was 38, still unmarried and no prospects in sight.  However, my spirits lifted suddenly when this tall handsome stranger took a seat next to me. I had the funniest feeling that it was fate…and I was right.”

Kay – “I was unloading groceries from my car, when one of the bags burst open and canned goods rolled everywhere.  He was driving by and stopped to help me.  He was dressed in a suit and tie and when I saw him crawl under a car going after some of the cans, I fell instantly in love.  It took him a little longer, but he eventually came around.  The irony was that the day before, my grandmother had said to me, when I was bemoaning the fact that I was still single.  “Honey, when it’s your time, the Lord will place your man at your feet.”

Laura – “He waited on my table one morning when my friend and I were having breakfast.  I was so struck by his muscles and personality that I went back that afternoon for lunch.  (My friend, who is an avowed snob, teased me unmercifully about being interested in a waiter, but I was so attracted to him that I could have cared less what he did for a living).  After I finished eating, I gave him my business card, and told him if he needed legal services to call me.  He called the next day and there was an instant attraction.   It turned out he owned the restaurant.”
