Spread the love

Overcoming You…

by Bonita Bennett

I often consider the defeat I see on the faces of those who succumb to failure when they can’t see their way, or the pieces aren’t in place.  Pieces—which most would describe as love, finance, security, and peace.

Though health or the life that sustains it, is a fundamental piece, it’s not generally viewed as a piece to be acquired or concerned with, because it’s normally already in place.  It is usually taken for granted until it starts to wither in illness.   Many have mastered the ability to think beyond their circumstances or stretch their imaginations, but there are those who need to catch on to this way of thinking.

This is evident by those whose faces reflect fallen spirits who fail to appreciate the sun and the promise of opportunity that a new day brings, as well as the defeatists who seldom overcome the circumstances that have momentarily blocked their paths.

As I move among the masses, I meet many who are talented, yet unfulfilled.  Most are fascinated and engulfed in the imagery and flash of others who have succeeded but never dream of being on an equal scale with those they idolize.

I recently read about the man who started the Home Depot Stores.  As is common, his parents were poor immigrants, but he believed that his destiny was to accomplish something great, and he overcame serious obstacles, including being fired from a job, to become a successful businessman.

Success in life is available to all who seek it if they have the power to dream and all that’s required is breath, faith, and determination.  Life is a privilege given to us by God, and a gift we neither earn nor deserve.  Therefore, we should all gain a new awareness that regardless of what is happening in our lives that we feel could be better, as long as we are still here, there is always the possibility to fulfill our dream if we have one.

Therefore, take time to dream and envision yourself at a better place, and then get busy doing all you can to get there.
