The Dating Chronicles – The Ultimate Blind Date

Alan and Elaina met while visiting a mutual friend in the hospital.  Elaina was impressed the moment she laid eyes on him. He was indeed the best-looking guy she’d seen in a long time. They had been engaged in talk and laughter for at least thirty minutes before she realized he was blind. Her heart fell when he stood up and reached for a cane next to his chair.

Her shock was evident in her voice when he made the sudden announcement that he had to leave. She felt disappointed when a very striking woman walked through the door and wrapped her arm in his.

She was there to pick Alan up, and Elaina’s shock turned to curiosity, as the couple waved goodbye and sailed laughingly through the door.  When they left, Elaina grilled her sick friend about Alan and learned he was an attorney, who had been injured in an automobile accident.  He had been blind for two years, and the woman who picked him up was his sister.  That night, Elaina went to bed thinking about him.

Two months later, she saw Alan crossing a busy street in the uptown area and her heart lurched at the sight of him.  She walked up beside him and put her arm in his and asked if he would help her cross the street.  He laughed and said he would love to. When they reached the other side, he smiled broadly and thanked her. 

When he asked if her name was Elaina, she almost fainted.  He explained that he remembered her voice, from when they met at the hospital, and that he had been thinking about her ever since.

They ended up meeting for lunch the next day.  Seven weeks later, they got engaged.
